Acupuncture is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practice that originated more than 2000 years ago in China. The theory is rooted in the philosophy of Daoism and documented in the “Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine”. Traditionally, acupuncture needles were made of Bian Shi 砭石 which is a type of stone that was sharpened and heated to treat various pains of the body.

Now, acupuncture has evolved to the use of very thin filiform to stimulate various acupuncture points (known as meridians) of the body that correspond to different organs and bodily functions to treat different diseases and ailments. Acupuncture is inseparable from Chinese Medicine that explores a natural method of treatment that aims to align the body with its own unique state of balance as well as the balance of nature.

The World Health Organization (WHO) recognizes acupuncture as an effective modality of treatment for various conditions.
